Project Overview
MiautoApp is a car rental platform designed to connect people who need cars with people who own them. Inspired by platforms like Airbnb and Drivana, the goal was to create a seamless, trustworthy, and easy-to-use experience for renters, car owners (hosts), and platform administrators, all within a single ecosystem.
The project focused on designing a complete end-to-end experience, covering the mobile app for renters and hosts, as well as a powerful web-based admin dashboard to manage operations, payments, and platform health. The emphasis was on clarity, trust, and scalability, ensuring the product could grow while remaining intuitive for all user types.

The Problem
Car rental platforms often suffer from:
Complicated booking flows
Poor trust signals between users
Confusing host and renter experiences
Weak admin tools that don’t scale
Lack of transparency in payments, cancellations, and payouts
The client needed a solution that felt simple for users, empowering for hosts, and fully controllable for admins, while being localized for the Mexican market.
Design Goals
Create a smooth, intuitive booking experience for renters
Enable car owners to easily list cars, manage bookings, and request payouts
Design a structured admin system to handle approvals, cancellations, refunds, and analytics
Maintain consistency across mobile and web interfaces
Ensure the product feels trustworthy, modern, and scalable

Challenges & UX Solutions
Challenge: Complex financial flows
Solution: Separated cancellation, refund, and payout requests into distinct admin flows with clear ownership.
Challenge: Serving multiple user types
Solution: Introduced Host Mode vs Renter Mode to simplify navigation and mental models.
Challenge: Trust in peer-to-peer rentals
Solution: Strong verification UI, transparent pricing, visible policies, and clear status feedback.
Takeaways
This project reinforced how critical clarity and structure are in marketplace platforms. By carefully separating responsibilities between renters, hosts, and admins and reflecting that separation in the UI, product feels trustworthy, scalable, and easy to use.
MiautoApp demonstrates how thoughtful UX design can transform a complex system into an experience that feels simple, human, and reliable.
